Whaling in the Antartic – Can NZ Diplomatic Actions Resolve the Problem?

After much tension in the Antartic, can John Key’s diplomatic answers resolve what is turning out to be a very heated conflict?
After the infamous collision between a New Zealand boat, Lady Gill which belongs to the Sea Sheppard conservation organistion, and a Japanese whaling ship that is apparently killing whales in the name of research, John Key has emerged with a seemingly more diplomatic answer to this controversial situation. PM John Key intended to discuss the situation with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on her intended trip to NZ this week, however due to the devastating recent events in Hadi, she has had to postpone her visit.
There is controversy as to who, out of the two boats, actually hit who. With the NZ boat claiming that they were idiling with the Japanese boat hit them. Conversely the Japanese claim that the Lady Gill purposely collided with them first. PM John Key is refusing to take a side, and has stated the actions by the NZ crew are not backed by the Government; he was reported say "I don't think name calling or collisions on the high seas is going to help resolve these issues."
The issue is still very contentious and the new question now remains, can this issue be resolved through the diplomatic actions of the New Zealand Government.
